Agriculture Youth Council Applications Now Available

OKLAHOMA CITY — Applications for the 2024-25 Agriculture Youth Council are now available for Oklahoma high school students entering their senior year in the fall of 2024.

Members will meet once a month during the school year. Activities include visits to agricultural companies and organizations, opportunities to learn about the legislative process, and job shadows with industry professionals.

“The lifelong friendships and connections I made throughout my time on the Agriculture Youth Council are ones that I will never forget,” said 2023-2024 council member Ruby Bell. “Being able to listen and learn from the biggest advocates in our industry has been a great experience. I am confident I will use the networking and knowledge I’ve gained through this special council throughout my life.”

The Agriculture Youth Council was created in 2019 by Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur to develop future agricultural leaders by teaching professional skills, exposing members to diverse agriculture operations, and offering short-term job experience in agriculture fields.

High school seniors from all Oklahoma counties are eligible to apply. Membership in 4-H/FFA is NOT required. Travel during the tours will be provided, but transportation to and from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry will be the responsibility of the student.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Applications are available at https://ag.ok.gov/agriculture-youth-council/.
