Smokey Bear's 75th Birthday Celebration

The iconic Smokey Bear dressed in a ranger's hat, belted blue jeans and carrying a shovel has been the recognized wildfire prevention symbol since 1944!

Over the years Smokey's message has changed slightly to "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires." A wildfire is any uncontrolled, unplanned and unwanted outdoor fire. 

Do your part to help prevent wildfires and learn Smokey's 5 rules:  

  1. Only you can prevent wildfires.
  2. Always be careful with fire. 
  3. Always watch your campfire. 
  4. Never play with matches or lighters. 
  5. Make sure your campfire is completely out before leaving it.
